Wild Dagga is a colourful garden plant found mainly in Southeast Africa. Its leaves and flowers have been used in that region for several hundred years as a medicine and remedy for snake bites. Literally meaning "Wild Cannabis", it is also known as "lion's tail".
Jan van Riebeek, our countryman who founded the VOC's first trading post in Africa, may have brought the plant to the Netherlands as early as around 1650. Wild Dagga's properties have also made it popular in Europe for some time now. Here, it is mostly recreational users who use Wild Dagga as a substitute for Cannabis. Because Leonurine, Wild Dagga's active ingredient, is compared to Cannabis. But it is milder, giving you a wonderful calm, euphoric feeling and visual effects. Wild Dagga also has medicinal properties, for instance it suppresses fever and headaches. Also, the leaves of this mint plant are sometimes used to make tea.
Add 0.5 to 1 gram to a teacup of boiling water and steep for 10-15 minutes. Add some honey if necessary and drink it.
